The definition of ecotourism is tourism to places having unspoiled natural resources, with minimal impact on the environment being a primary concern. Ecotourism is easily attainable to any environmentally inclined, adventure seeking, traveler.

The Mediterranean offers a variety of tourist activities which enables visitors to fully enjoy the scenic shrub lands. Due to the generally warm temperature in the spring months, hiking through the vast hills is a great activity. Hiking through all months, other than the summer months, is an extraordinary way to explore the Mediterranean in an up close and personal way. The closeness of the Mediterranean Sea offers many outlets of entertainment during any stay in this biome. Boating trips, surfing, and swimming in the warm waters can be a whole trip in itself! The waters provide year round entertainment, however, during the warm summer days the sea is a great way for young and old to cool off. During the summer months, snorkeling through the Mediterranean is a great way to see native aquatic species, while enjoying the warm water, and being environmentally focused.
During any season, you can visit many of the native shops, which create pottery, clothing, and trinkets, with clay, stone, and other natural materials from the Mediterranean. Many of the shops offer alternative options to the normal Mediterranean leather. Fake leather and furs are a stylish look for those who are environmentally focused, and are a great tourist buy, as many Mediterranean fashions are only reasonably priced in the Mediterranean. Such activites are great for the winter months, when the Mediterranean is experiencing its wet season and the shrublands are regenerating.
Visiting the beautiful terraced buildings, with natural species growing upon them is a beautiful scenic view along the Mediterranean. Although at one point this disturbed the land, natural species have taken over and
 have created breathtaking views.
At any city, during any time of the year, throughout the Mediterranean, resturants offer outdoor seating. Plazas are in the cities as well, and the cities are quaint and designed to be traveled in and out by foot or bicycle. Many cities have bicycle renting shops, this way any tourist can be environmentally friendly while seeing the beautiful Mediterranean sites. Hiking through the scenic hills are another way to experience nature, especially if one approaches it with the appreciation of their surroundings. "Jordan Eco-Tours" allows eco-tourists the chance to visit such marvels as the city of Mosaics and Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to be buried. This tour allows participants to take in the wonders of the regions while allowing them to get in touch with nature by camping. This eco-tour also focuses in on another aspect of eco-tourism, the cultural heritage of the people in the region by allowing you to participate in customs and visit places that are historically rich for the natives.
